Entry
Rules and Procedures
- A
completed Entry Form must be returned for each quilt entered to
Yellowstone Quilt Fest by Monday September 8, 2008. Please
specify if the quilt is to be judged or for exhibition only.
- The
entry fee for a Judged quilt is $5 per quilt; the fee for an
Exhibition Only quilt is $2.
- Entries
must be made of fabric and quilted – not tied. (Exception: Youth
Category).
- Incomplete,
excessively worn, or soiled quilts will not be accepted. The quilt
show committee reserves the right to reject unsuitable entries.
- The
YQF definition of a quilt is “three layers with thread passing
back and forth through all layers ‘many’ times.”
Traditionally, the three layers consist of a pieced top,
batting, and backing. However,
to allow for creativity, one or more layers may consist of a
suitable alternative material.
- A
maximum of two
quilts per category may be entered for judging by any one
participant.
- If
you have a story about your quilt that you want to share with the
viewers, type the
information on a separate sheet of paper and submit it
with your quilt.
- Quilts
must be labeled with the name of the maker(s), address and phone
number. A permanent
label is not required but is recommended.
All labels will be covered during judging.
- All
quilts except those entered in the Small category must have
a 3” hanging sleeve
attached to the back. Small quilts must have an obvious method of
hanging. No framed items accepted.
- Quilts
may be hand delivered to the Club Room at the Cody Auditorium
between 1 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday September 9, 2008.
Absolutely no quilts will be accepted after 6 pm on September
9, 2008.
- Quilts
may be mailed to YQF, 1108 14th Street #194, Cody, WY
82414, to arrive not later than September 8, 2008.
Any quilts received by mail after September 8 will not be
eligible to be in the show. Mailed
quilts must include return postage or
be picked up at the conclusion of the show.
- Quilts
may be picked up after 5 pm on Sunday, September 14 at the
close of the show unless other arrangements have been made.
- All
quilts must remain on display through the duration of the show.
Quilts will be displayed in a secure location with lock-up at
night. Hostesses will be on duty during the quilt show.
Insurance for all
quilts, whether in transit
or on display at the show is the responsibility of the
entrant.
- Awards
for each category, along with "Judge's Choice and “People’s
Choice” and the winners of the Block Challenge, will be presented
during the Awards Ceremony on Sunday September 14, 2008 at 4:00 pm.
All awards are given at the discretion of the judge(s).
A single quilt in a particular category may not necessarily
receive an award.
- Judges
and the YQF committee reserve the right to reassign a quilt to a
different category if warranted.
- Quilts
previously entered for judging in the Yellowstone Quilt Fest or its
predecessor, the All American Quilt Show in Powell, WY, may not
again be entered in a judged category.
