2008 Block Challenge - Cowboy Christmas

Please share your creativity and skill in the Block Challenge! This year’s theme is Cowboy Christmas. Blocks will be on display so that all visitors and participants will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite. The top three favorite blocks will be announced at the close of the show, and prizes will be awarded as follows: First Place, $50.00; Second Place, $30.00; and Third Place, $20.00.

Block Challenge Rules

Blocks must be 12 ½ inches square (to finish 12 inches).

· Please use only good quality, 100% cotton fabric.

· Any embellishments must be firmly attached and able to withstand long-arm machine quilting without interfering with the quilting

· Make as many as you want!

· Safety pin onto each block entered a piece of paper with your name, address, and telephone number. Your name should not appear on the block itself.

· There is no entry fee to submit your block.

· Blocks must be received by September 8, 2008.

All blocks become the property of Yellowstone Quilt Fest to be used in future projects (e.g. raffle quilts). Credit will be given to the maker of each block as it is used. Proceeds from block projects are primarily used for prizes.

Class: Punch Needle
Cost: $20.00 (plus kit fee)

This class will introduce you to the world of Punch Needle with the ever-wacky Shirlee! Class will create a decorative 5”x6” pin cushion. You will learn how to punch needle, create a pattern and add finishing touches. Punch needle is portable, affordable and fast! No previous experience needed!

This beautiful technique from the book Floral Fantasies taught by master teacher Sherry Fink. You will choose a pattern from the book and proceed from there. Photo of one of the projects is shown below. Sign up early as there is pre-class work!

9 am - 4 pm Day Retreat
Cost: $5.00

This Day Retreat is designed for everyone who has wondered about quilting retreats! There will be no class, no teacher and no homework! You will work on your own project at your own pace. Bring your sewing machine and have fun.

Classes and Day Retreat will be held in the Club Room at the Cody Auditorium, 1240 Beck Avenue, Cody, Wyoming. Supply lust will be mailed with class confirmation after payment is received. See Fees Form for payment instructions.

Class size is limited. If the class fills before your registration and fees are received, your money will be returned. If you are unable to attend after acceptance into the class, or retreat, your money will be refunded only if your spot can be filled by another paying student.
