Yellowstone Quilt Fest 2008

Judged Quilt Categories 

 
A.      SMALL QUILTS:
   This category includes – but is not limited to – miniatures.  Maximum size of 24" x 24" or a perimeter of 96".  
One category only, includes hand-quilted, machine-quilted, and group quilts*.

B.       MEDIUM QUILTS:  Includes quilts greater than 24" x 24" up to  75” x 75” or perimeters between 96" and 300”.  The three (3) sub-categories are:  

1.      Medium Hand-Quilted  
2.      Medium Machine-Quilted  
3.      Medium Group Quilts*  

C.     LARGE QUILTS:   Includes quilts greater than 75" x 75" or a perimeter greater than 300".  Quilts with a length or width greater than 120" are too large to manage and will not be accepted.  The three (3) sub-categories are:

1.      Large Hand-Quilted
2.      Large Machine-Quilted  
3.      Large Group Quilts*  

D.     YOUTH QUILTS:  Any size to a maximum of 120” x 120”.  The age category is determined by the age of the entrant on September 12, 2008 (first day of show).  The three (3) sub-categories are: 

1.     Youth Ages 12 and Under.  Tied or quilted entries welcome.
2.     Youth Ages 13 through 18.Tied or quilted entries welcome.  
3.     Youth Group.* Quilt must be quilted, not tied.  At least one quilter in the group must be 18 or younger as of September 12, 2008.

E.      ORIGINAL DESIGN QUILTS:  Provides for entries that are unique new designs.  Defined as being designed and constructed by a single individual; 

NO
group quilts will be allowed in this category.   
Any size up to a maximum of 120" x 120".  Both hand- and/or machine-quilting welcome. All entries must be quilted.
The two (2) sub-categories are:  

1. Traditional (using traditional techniques and materials)
2. Non-Traditional (using non-traditional techniques and materials)


* Group quilts are defined as those worked on by multiple people.  Any quilt submitted with any work done by more than one individual must be entered in one of the four 'Group' Categories.
